CANSO air traffic safety conference to open in Scotland

31 October 2013

The international air traffic management (ATM) community will descend on Scotland next week for the CANSO Global ATM Safety Conference.

The event will bring together experts from all over the world to discuss best practice and the latest developments in air traffic safety.

Among the topics to be discussed will be the development of lead indicators to give a wider perspective on the health of the ATM system; and the development of a strong global safety strategy in support of CANSO’s ‘Vision 2020’.

The event will be hosted at Loch Lomond from 4-8 November by UK based air traffic management company NATS, which has one of the best safety records in the world.

Dr David Harrison, NATS Safety Director and current co-chair of the CANSO Safety Standing Committee, said: “Safety is at the very heart of what we do, so we are delighted to be hosting the international ATM community here in the UK next week. NATS is one of the most active members of CANSO and we’re looking forward to what is sure to be a successful event both for CANSO and all its members.”

During the conference, NATS safety experts will be blogging on many of the key issues being discussed at nats.aero/blog.
