Dynamic Sectorisation Operational Trial (DSOT) has been launched between IAA and NATS

28 February 2014

The trial aims to gather information on efficiencies that could be gained through the SESAR concept of dynamic sectorisation – tactical switching of air traffic services between providers.

The first phase of the trial went live as planned at 04:41am on Thursday 9 January 2014, with the delegation of a portion of Rathlin West airspace from NATS to the IAA (Irish Aviation Authority).  Delta 470 was the first aircraft to be handled as it travelled from Amsterdam to JFK, exiting the trial airspace at 04:58.

This DSOT first phase runs for a 9 month period before the Rathlin West ATS reverts to NATS in September 2014.
