NATS Chief Executive Richard Deakin elected to key global role

28 June 2012

Richard Deakin, Chief Executive Officer at NATS, has been elected as a member at large of the Executive Committee of CANSO.

CANSO, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation, is the global voice for Air Navigation Service Providers – its members control more than 85 per cent of world air traffic.

Richard was appointed at the CANSO Annual General meeting in Rome and he will work alongside the Chair of the Executive Committee, Paul Riemens.

Speaking of his appointment, Richard Deakin said: “NATS was one of the founding members of CANSO so I am delighted to have the chance to help influence the global air navigation agenda.

“The challenges that our industry faces today have arguably never been so great. Over the next 10 years we have ambitious plans to revolutionise ATM and implement a system that will deliver real benefits to our customers.

“Achieving that will require the entire aviation industry to work together. CANSO will play a pivotal role in facilitating that collaboration and ensuring that the views and interests of ANSPs help shape those plans.”
