NATS wins Romanian training contract

NATS, the UK’s leading provider of air traffic services, has signed the latest in a series of Air Traffic Control (ATC) Refresher Training contracts with the Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration (ROMATSA).

Incorporating eight Area and eight Approach (aerodrome/airport) courses, the training contract will see 96 delegates visiting the NATS Training Centre in Hampshire over the next two years.

The courses will promote alternative thinking and develop different controlling techniques, as well as re-emphasise some of the basics.  The modern and hi-tech systems that are currently used require less intervention from controllers on a tactical basis, so reinforcement of the fundamentals plays a valuable part.

The contract marks the 10-year anniversary of this training programme since its inception in 2004 and the success of this series of courses will hopefully see regular Flight Information Service function (FISO) training delivered both in Bucharest and the NATS Training Centre.

Comprehensive Air Traffic Management and CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) training at all levels, as well as refresher courses for valid controllers and engineers are all available at NATS’ purpose built state-of-the-art training facility. Human Factors courses, Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP) qualifications and English Language courses are also on offer. Highly skilled instructors can even travel to wherever needed to provide high-quality training.
