Olympic rings land at Birmingham

10 May 2012

The control tower at Birmingham Airport has received a London 2012 facelift, in the shape of illuminated Olympic rings, creating a spectacular welcome for those flying in for the Games.

The rings were officially unveiled at a ceremony on 23 April, attended by gold medal winners Edwin Moses and Lee Pearson and covered by the BBC and ITV.

The nearby City of Coventry Stadium will host a number of football matches for the Games, while the US and Jamaican athletics teams will also be based in the area.
