Through advances in technology and utilising multiple experts from across our business (including Human Factors, Engineering, Safety and Operations ) we have introduced full “Radar in the Tower” operations at Belfast, with Cardiff commencing in July.

Under specific conditions controllers are able to utilise the radar capabilities to provide a combined Radar and Aerodrome service. Operational trials are also presently taking place at Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Southampton.

This is an innovative UK regulatory first driven by NATS, and demonstrates how NATS, working in collaboration with the CAA, can drive change to continue to provide a safe and efficient service.
