Brazilian visit a hit

10 May 2012

As hosts of the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Games, Brazil has a huge challenge ahead to ensure it has the infrastructure and systems in place to cope with the extra demand on its airspace.

To help them prepare for these major events, a senior delegation of Brazilian ministers, regulators, airport operators and air traffic controllers visited Swanwick and Heathrow Airport to find out how NATS is preparing for London 2012.

Head of NATS Consultancy Fergus Cusden said: “The delegation was given a presentation on our preparations for London 2012 by Samantha Green from the NATS ATC team as well as a tour of our facilities at Swanwick.

“The visitors were impressed with our plans to cope with the extra capacity that will be generated by the Games and will return to see operations underway in July.

“Brazil is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and aviation is expanding in double digits, making it a valuable potential customer for NATS.”
