Seeing solutions for sustainability

Clarity is NATS’ emissions impact demonstrator that models the future cumulative environmental impact of initiatives within an airport’s ecosystem.

It provides a visualisation of emissions from ground and air operations and quantifies CO2 savings over time so that you can make informed investment choices about your future sustainability improvements.

Clear answers to complex questions

Clarity can help airports answer questions such as:

  • How could improved stand management result in a greater reduction in CO2 than electrification of some of our ground vehicles?
  • How much fuel and CO2 could be saved with time-based separation on approach?
  • Would a slight extension to the operating area of tugs have a notable impact on harmful pollutants around the apron?
  • If we install fixed-electrical ground power (FEGP) at remote hold locations on the airfield, how much CO2 can we save, and how could we adapt our procedures for maximum benefit?
  • What combination of these initiatives would have the most impact, both for emissions and finances?
