Who are NATS?
NATS is the UK’s leading Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP). Every year we handle 2.6 million flights and keep 250 million passengers safe whilst in UK airspace. We provide air traffic management (ATM) services to 13 airports in the UK as well as providing these services around the world spanning Europe, Middle East, Asia and North America.
We’re shaping the future of ATM through our focus on ‘advancing aviation and keeping the skies safe’ and believe that the size and diversity of our business makes us an exciting choice for undergraduates considering their future careers.
What will the Airspace and Future Operations Graduate scheme involve?
The scheme is based at our Swanwick Centre (Hampshire) however we have adopted ‘agile working’ which will enable you, where possible, to have the opportunity and flexibility to work in our modern office facilities as well as at home. In addition, this exciting 2 year programme will involve some travel from time to time to our Head Office in Whiteley (Hampshire) and our Prestwick Centre (Ayrshire).
Your placement will be with the Airspace and Future Operations business area. The team designs, develops and delivers tomorrow’s Air Traffic Management (ATM) Operation on behalf of the Operations directorate, focused on meeting the needs of our customers (including the Military of Defence) and airspace users, all while continuing to provide a safe and sustainable service.
Due to increasing air traffic, environmental demands and the changing needs of our customers we need to make more efficient use of our airspace. You will be part of a business area designing and developing our airspace, as well as the tools and processes needed to deliver the safety and performance of our future network. We begin with the development of our strategic plan, through Research and Development, then into the development, implementation and assurance of our solutions.
The initial 2 years of the role will provide the opportunity to experience different aspects of our business. You will be based in the Oceanic and Systems Development team. The team are responsible for a wide range of exciting projects that are key to our work at NATS.
On successful completion of the initial placement, a permanent role will be identified in which your skills and career can be further developed.
