Applications open for the next generation of aviation professionals

08 September 2022

NATS has today started the search for the next generation of top aviation professionals. Aimed at finding future talent, nearly 50 roles will be available in the form of Graduate Schemes, Industrial Placements and Apprenticeships, all starting in September 2023.

NATS is recruiting in several areas including Engineering and Technology, Finance, Project Management, Airspace and Future Operations, Analytics and Human Resources.

NATS was recognised as one of Rate my Placement’s ‘Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers’ in 2021. Those who join the Early Careers Scheme will have the chance to make a meaningful contribution in achieving NATS’ purpose of advancing aviation and keeping the skies safe.

Entry requirements for the Graduate Scheme include holding at least a 2:2 degree which NATS hopes will attract the widest possible pool of talent from all backgrounds.

Ahead of the scheme going live, Early Careers Manager, Beth Rippingale, said: “We’re really excited to be launching our Early Careers scheme for the second time after a short pause during the pandemic. As someone who came into NATS on an industrial placement, I know first-hand that it offers young people an incredible chance to begin their careers in a truly fascinating industry. NATS is a world leader in what it does and a great place to work. Good luck to all those who wish to apply this year!”

Helen Fuge, Head of Talent and HR Services, said “At NATS we are really keen to reach a more diverse pool of talent and want to showcase the fantastic career opportunities we have to offer young people. We have recently removed the requirement to hold a 2:1 degree for our graduate schemes and we hope it will enable many more applicants to consider applying. We also hope that our new partnerships with Vercida and Fantasy Wings will enable us to reach people who wouldn’t have necessarily ever considered a career within aviation or NATS”.

NATS works closely with Vercida, a recruitment platform aimed at helping employers to recruit a positive and diverse workforce, as well as Fantasy Wings, a company that gives Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic young people a platform to enter and excel in the aviation industry.

This week, the new 2022 Early Careers cohort have begun their placements and apprenticeships at NATS with 43 students and young people joining the company in a range of different areas and services.

Applications for the 2023 intake will be open from 8 September to 31 October and can be found on the NATS Aero website: https://www.nats.aero/careers/early-careers/
