Creating a sustainable future for aviation
While aviation delivers strong economic and social benefits to the UK and beyond, it also has a clear impact on the environment; we see it as our responsibility to help drive, deliver and maintain a sustainable future for the industry.
Reducing aviation's environmental impact and saving fuel is important to us and our customers. As part of our environmental strategy, we are implementing smarter and more responsive ways to do this.
Recognition for our climate targets
Our promise is to be a net zero emissions company by 2035 and to play our part in helping the aviation industry reach net zero by 2050. We have already reduced our emissions by 37% since 2018 and our environmental strategy commits to further robust targets, improving our emissions performance both in how we run our business and in how we manage UK airspace.
We have been named for the second year running as one of Europe’s Climate Leaders, in the 2022 listing compiled by the Financial Times & Statista.
This special report names just 400 European companies that have achieved the greatest reduction in their Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions between 2015 and 2020.
CDP, formally the Carbon Disclosure Project, rates action taken on environmental impacts and is considered the gold standard measure of sustainability and stewardship.
NATS achieved an A- rating in 2021 – this score places us in the top 2% of 13,000 companies around the world which disclosed their data to the CDP.
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) awarded NATS with ‘Business Ambition’ status – the highest achievement possible.
This demonstrates NATS emissions targets exceed requirements to help prevent the most damaging effects of climate change and consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
