Information handling

Information is an asset. Our data, documentation and intellectual property has significant financial value and needs to be protected just as carefully as we protect our physical assets.

The Protective Marking Scheme helps us ensure information is appropriately secured and is handled, shared and disposed of correctly.

We require all suppliers to handle our information in accordance with our Protective Marking Scheme classification levels and handling guidance. Our markings are:

NATS Public NATS Internal NATS Private NATS Protected
Used for information that is intended to be made available to the general public. Availability to the public will not damage the interests of NATS, its employees and partners. Non-sensitive NATS information that is used to conduct daily business. If this information were to be made available to the public it would not impact NATS ability to operate or deliver services but may cause some embarrassment to NATS, its employees and partners.

Authorised third parties, partners and contractors can be given access to NATS Internal Information however the ‘need to know’ principle should be considered and appropriately applied
